How much do you value your brain?

Most of you know we don't use even half of our brains but have you ever actually thought about how weird that is? Like imagine only using half your lungs or half your arm? Your brain is an amazing organ it does so much for us without even asking. This is something I tell people to focus on when they say they have nothing to be grateful for. Well you have an organ that makes your body work without you asking it to isn't that pretty awesome and something to be thankful for? You didn't have to earn it you were born with it!

Although it does so much for us automatically it also listens to what you tell it and what you ask it to do. Every thought it believes you. This is why we always say in my house 'if you say you can, you can and if you say you can't you can't'

If you have a thought over an over it becomes a belief to your brain. So try not to worry if you have a negative thought that's perfectly normal. It's just whether you choose to stay with that thought or let it go.

The way u think about things affects your mood. You can literally tell your mind anything. Lets try something, in a moment I urge you to close your eyes, imagine an apple in your hand. Really imagine holding the apple, think about how cold it is, how much it would weigh in your hand. The way you'd be holding it ready to take a bite. Then imagine taking a bite of the apple, imagine the crunch through the skin of the apple to the juicy part. Imagine how it feels on your tongue, imagine the flavour. This is the best apple you have ever had so juicy and perfectly ripe..... OK is your mouth filling with saliva? This happens when we eat right. But you've just tricked your brain into thinking you are about to eat so there for it got ready for the food. Its that easy!

So why not trick it into thinking things that could benefit your life? Our imaginations are so powerful but yet we seem to grow out of it. We see kids playing games of make believe, and then somehow society tells us to grow up. Stop day dreaming and be realistic. Urgh I hate that!

By dreaming and imagining you are creating the life you love! So I'm here to say dream! Imagine! Be like a child it's really not a bad thing! Kids laugh on average 300 times a day and adults around 20 if that. When i found that out i was on a mission to laugh more an enjoy life as much as possible!

Let's take your job for instance do you enjoy it? Is it a career where you are working up the ladder planning the next step till you reach your goal? Is it a means to an end just to pay the bills? Is it somewhere you can laugh?

There are so many people now living the life of their dreams working and loving life. Which is amazing and if that's you I applaud you! But I also meet so many people that don't enjoy life that dread that Monday morning wake up to start work after the 2 days off at the weekend. I honesty don't think it's a great way to live. Not for your mental health anyway. If u wake up dreading it an wishing the hours away are you really making the most of your life?

Now I get it I was one of those people not looking forward to my day job but knowing I needed it to pay the bills. I'm very lucky I found a job that fits well with my son an there are certain perks which make my life easier but I wasn't fulfilled for so long. Until I started looking it at it differently.

I worked on my mindset and started to trick my brain. I would find any little thing to be grateful for an really feel it. But also I try to look at the bigger picture to think how this is contributing to the world. It may only be in small ways but by thinking I am helping people I felt happier and I wanted to go to work. I enjoyed it so much more.

Re-crafting your job is a way of adding more meaning to your life because let's face it we all need money to live so why not earn it whilst enjoying yourself rather than dragging yourself down. Even if the only good thing you can think of is that you get paid, focus on that an when that thought doesn't serve you anymore think of something that does make you happy. A memorable moment you may have that you could relive. Just like with imaging eating the apple. Imagine reliving the happy moment and watch how your mood changes.

Once one area is more positive in your life you'll be surprised how it rolls into other parts. Start small with little changes. Focus on the good points always. Even when things are really bad there's always a silver lining as they say. You may have to look harder sometimes but there is always something you can focus on that's good about a situation. Trick your brain as much as you need to it really works! The brain is a muscle and just like you can go to the gym and train your biceps you can train your brain to look for the positives!
